When a company uses the public display media or any other media outside the company premises that is either static or mobile for advertising then it is called outdoor advertising. There are various modes of outdoor advertising. The outdoor advertising includes billboards, signs, aerial displays, posters and transit displays. The outdoor advertising also includes Taxi Advertising and Bus Advertising
Signs are very prominent in outdoor advertising. The outdoor advertisement can be sign that exhibits lettering, figures, and parts of letters, phrases, numerals, devices, emblems, sentences, trade names, marks or designs or a combination of them. Some of the signs that can be considered for outdoor advertising are roof signs, projecting signs, free standing signs, wall signs backlit awnings and marquee signs.
Some of the major advantages of outdoor advertising are as follows.
Viewers: The outdoor advertisement can be stationary or mobile. If it is stationary in the form of hoarding or billboard or illuminated boards and if it is in the prime spot then that sign is going to be seen by many people. On the other hand if it is mobile the advertisement will be seen by everyone watching the outside of the taxi or the bus or the vehicle on which the advertisement is mounted. Thus the number of viewers of outdoor advertisement is very large. The London Taxi Advertising is known for its reach and network.
Cost Efficiency: Taking into consideration the number of viewers and the flexibility the outdoor advertisement is very cost effective. If you cannot afford the audio visual media such as the television then Outdoor Advertising is one of the best options. If your advertisement is painted on the taxi or bus it will be seen everywhere the taxi or the bus goes. The outdoor advertising is very cost effective.
Purchase locations: One can have the hoarding or billboard placed at a place which is frequently visited by the targeted customers. The billboard or the hoarding can be placed near the purchase location. This can have a great impact on the buyers.
Creativity: The best of creativity can be exhibited through billboards and hoardings. Even the illuminated or neon board that is decorated with lights is enough to draw the customer's attention towards your product and services. The colorful images are usually successful at drawing the attention of the customers.
Reaching the Customers: In outdoor advertisement, usually the advertisement is stationary and the target audience is moving. In some case like taxi advertising and bus advertising the vehicle is moving. Thus in this sort of situation more customers can be reached because of taking in to consideration the mobility of buyer as well as the seller.
Constant exposure: The outdoor door advertisement is being exposed to the target audience constantly for 24x7
Life: The life of a hoarding or billboard or a painting on buses and taxis is quite long.
Effectiveness of other media: the effectiveness of other media such as the TV can be enhanced through outdoor advertising.
