Origin and Massive Operations of Pipeline Gas Facilities

By: Clint Jhonson

The number of pipeline natural gas facilities not just in North America but also worldwide is constantly and rapidly rising. As industries set clear and imminent demand for such energy, there is a need to establish more pipeline gas stations and centers. Because of the usefulness of natural gas and the emergence of more natural gas facilities, people are getting more curious about the origins and the current popularity of such pipeline gas facilities.

Looking at the specific and exact origin of the pipeline natural gas facilities, there are arguments as to who and where the facilities really were first established and used. According to records, the first actual pipeline gas facility was constructed in Russia during the later part of the 19th century. Engineer Vladimir Shukhov was the first to put up and use pipeline gas facilities for his Branobel firm.

However, there are claims that the first pipeline natural gas facility was established and put up in Pennsylvania. It was said that the Oil Creek railroad station in the 1860s was the first pipeline gas facility. The Oil Transport Association was the company behind that first pipeline natural gas. The pipeline gas facility was a 2-inch pipeline made of wrought iron on a six-mile track running from a Pennsylvania oil field to the Oil Creek road station.

Nowadays, pipeline gas facilities are the most common and reliable means to transport and move natural gas supplies in good and healthy quantities. In the past, and up until now in some areas, natural gas is transported using carriers and trucks. Bust such transports are identified and proven to be too risky, if not too costly. Thus, when pipeline natural gas facilities drew popularity, almost all gas companies sought the usefulness and practicality of pipeline gas facilities.

There is no denying the fact that the popularity of pipeline natural gas is on the rise. In North America alone, it is estimated that there are more than 200 pipeline natural gas facilities in active operations. The number is still counting as many developers and firms continue to build and construct more of such pipeline gas stations. Elsewhere, there are more pipeline natural gas stations in the world. In Europe alone, almost all countries are reliant on natural gas supplies coursed through pipeline gas facilities.

Thus, the pipeline natural gas is a thriving and effective industry in itself. It is not surprising that there are more and more startup companies and even already existing utility firms and energy companies that swoon to operate their own pipeline gas stations.
