How to Choose Replica Jewelry

By: David T.

Replica jewelry is an excellent way to add a touch of glamour without the high price tag. It is always a great gift idea but it may be difficult to choose just the right piece. Here are some tips.

1. Consider the person's tastes. Are they contemporary or traditional? Are they simple or ornate? Does he or she like to wear one large piece of jewelry or several small ones?

2. Consider the person's interests. Movie buffs would treasure a Tiffany and Co. replica because it would evoke Audrey Hepburn and the glamour days of Hollywood. Fashion buffs would enjoy Luis Vuitton replica jewelry or those that are authentic reproductions of pieces by Chanel, Christian Dior or Hermes.

3. Discretely find out the correct sizes. It may be tricky to get the correct size if the ring or necklace is to be a surprise. It may be possible to "borrow" a ring to get it sized by a jeweler. (Remember to return it discretely as soon as possible.) Another option is to make a window-shopping date. Just for fun, visit a jewelry store to try on rings and other jewelry, then make private note of the size he or she wears.

For necklaces, either "borrow" a necklace of the length she generally wears, then measure it and return it. Or playfully put a necklace, a chain, a string of Christmas lights, etc., around her neck, and notice where it falls to see if it would be the correct length. Buy the necklace accordingly.

4. Consider the person's occupation. Some jobs, such as many in the health care industry, do not allow employees to wear large pieces of jewelry, for a variety of reasons. While he or she may be able to wear them after work, it may not be convenient to do so.

5. Consider the quality of the piece. A cheap knock-off piece of replica jewelry will not last and can be obviously fake. Spend a little more to get a high-quality piece that is identical to the original. Some clues that a piece is a cheap imitation are: blurred or poorly done engraving; chains with links that are not securely connected and loose stones.

6. Choose an appropriate piece of jewelry. A "journey" necklace (i.e. one in which pendant is a snakelike trail of several diamonds or cubic zirconia) is meant to show a commitment to life's journey. Thus it is considered a romantic piece and not one to give to a boss or an employee. Be aware of similar symbolism in other pieces in order to avoid misunderstandings.

7. Buy from a reputable company. Jewelry is an excellent gift but if there is a problem with the purchase, the company should be able to quickly rectify the situation. The warranty, return and exchange policy should be clearly stated.

Replica jewelry is a unique gift idea for those special people in life. It is attractive, glamorous and adds a beautiful, fun touch to any outfit. A gift of fine replica jewelry won't just sit in a jewelry box – it will be worn and treasured.
