The Costa Rican isthmus and surrounding parts has been stirred with political fuss, nationalpublic distress and economic unsteadiness. This, however, is in blunt distinction with Costa Rica’s comparatively peaceful and generally sound environment. Costa Rica and its community have survived in common unity and with a sense of goodwill, something that seems to have evade the other countries in this parts. This may be by degress attributed to the non-existent national forces, the intrinsic of state maintenance that most governments cannot allow to pass up.
But Costa Rica has proven that a standing forces is not a obligatory to enduring peace. Their local forces has been checked out by President Figueras in 1948 and since then, the country has not exposed any genuine internal engagement—an existent that most states from this parts cannot avoid, owing to the that conlicts among the civil society and the military.
